BioEden Water and Production Troubleshooting

Use this page when water cleaning is limited, a connected building does nothing, or a feeder/refill chain appears broken. Start with the smallest safe checks. The official FAQ’s mechanic answers come from the pre-release demo context, so we mark them Official guidance — demo-era rather than claiming they were retested on every current build.

Lake or river?

Goal: understand why a water cleaner will not clean a river.

Answer: the first water cleaner only works on lakes. A separate river cleaner is unlocked later.

Expected observation: lakes respond to the first tool; rivers need the later tool or another valid method unlocked by the game.

What we do not know: the exact river-cleaner unlock step, research branch, or patch-specific timing. Do not follow guides that invent an unlock level.

Is production paused?

Goal: check why connected buildings stop producing.

Safe checks, in order:

  1. Look at the upper-left corner and confirm you are not in Pause.
  2. Resume time and watch one production cycle.
  3. If time is running but the chain still stops, read the visible status of each linked building and note any missing inputs or warnings. This is a general diagnostic check, not a verified BioEden mechanic.

Expected observation: when time is flowing and the chain is correctly supplied, production resumes. If everything is paused, nothing happens even when buildings are connected.

Failure branch: if the pause check passes and production still freezes, record which building, input resource, and visible status are stuck. Use the linked official community/Discord or a current player thread for that exact symptom; do not delete the save first.

Is food reaching the feeder?

Goal: diagnose a feeder that is not getting filled.

Distinguish the problem first: this is different from not finding the carnivore food bowl placement item. See Find the food bowl if the bowl itself is missing from the menu.

Safe checks:

  1. Confirm the relevant factory is running.
  2. If the factory works, check whether you have enough orbs—the little helper units.
  3. If orb count is the issue, build/enable an orb source such as an orb factory, then watch whether delivery resumes.

Expected observation: with the factory active and enough helpers, the feeder receives food.

Limits: the official FAQ gives this check, but it does not prove every empty-feeder symptom is caused by orbs. We do not claim this fixes every delivery issue.
